Theory-based impact evaluation
Webb15 sep. 2009 · It is widely accepted that a theory-based approach to impact evaluation, one that maps out the causal chain from inputs to outcomes and impact and tests the underlying assumptions, will shed light on the why question. But application of a theory-based approach remains weak. WebbThere are several different approaches to theory-based evaluation — including contribution analysis, realist evaluation and process tracing — and each has its own terminology. The common factor is that they all rely on generative causation. In other words, they depend on identifying the mechanism that explains effects.
