WebHolcombe moor is situated near the small town of Ramsbottom and the nearest major town is Bury. The village is located on the slopes of Holcombe Moor. Much of the moorland around the village is in the care of the National Trust and is popular with walkers, cyclists and bird watchers. WebThrough funding from DEFRA, the South West Peatland Partnership will restore 1599 ha of degraded peatland on the South West’s iconic moors (Bodmin Moor, Dartmoor and Exmoor). Around 300Ha of this restoration will take place here on Dartmoor. What is a peat bog? Peat is a special kind of soil which forms in very wet places.
